For a long time, I've been saying that I miss livejournal. Recently, this came up on a discussion over on BlueSky and someone pointed out that--for all intents and purposes--LJ still basically existed over here on dreamwidth.
So, I decided to come and log in.
First of all: WHOA. I don't remember importing all of my LJ stuff over here. So when I go and look at my entries, I see stuff from 2011, which is definitely a blast from the past. It even has my little cat icon!
Second of all: Hey -- this really does look and feel so much like LJ. I suspect that the main reason it didn't take off for me back at the time is that so many people left LJ and didn't come here--so the communities didn't feel like they had been recreated over here. When I look at the list of people that I followed on LJ, it looks like only one or two are actually active over here. So I guess that, if I want to use this again, I'll (a) need to convince friends to come over here and start posting, (b) I'll need to make NEW friends here, or (c) I should get used to posting into a void.
I'll probably attempt all three strategies, to be honest? I've missed journaling and I've never found that I had much patience for a completely private journal written just for me.
Anyhow--we'll see, I suppose.
